What is the difference between XMS Memory from Corsair and Memory that is Not XMS.
From what I understand the XMS is better. But why??

Premium mem chips. This relates to overclockability and stability at higher speeds. That is my understanding

I read corsair ram is hand picked like fine wine, where as samsung ram is not.

or you mean Corsair is hand picked Samsung modules, XMS is pretty much just saying that its going to overclock well.

What sets these modules apart from others is their ability to run at high speeds with lower latency settings.

I've used several XMS modules and find them to be of extremely high quality and very overclockable. Currently running 256MB of PC3200C2 which does 200MHz at 2-3-3-6-1 as promised by the manufacturer's specs.

I have not tested any Geil modules but I have used Mushkin, and while I consider Mushkin to be fine memory my favorites based on personal experience are the Corsair XMS modules.

Thats about what I figured. One more question.

Spreaders. Obviously one can look at the price to figure which ones are better.

But how much does one spreader make a difference over another one.
Does the price increase justify the better heat spreader?

Corsair XMS comes included with heat spreaders. I don?t know how hard you intend to press your ram but most people have a hard time maxing out this memory. Its most often other components that wont run the high FSB. This is not the case with some of the newer P4 boards. But still Corsair 3500 XMS can solve even that problem.

Spreaders only provide a little benifit so the type of spreader isn't all that important. Just having one of any type should be sufficient.
