I recently purchased a MSI Neo2 Platinum Motherboard with a AMD 64 3800+ CPU.

I then purchased this memory

Corsair XMS Extreme Memory Speed Platinum Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) ECC Registered DDR PC-3200 - Retail

Model# TWINX1024RE-3200LLPT
Item # N82E16820145476
The TwinX1024RE-3200LL is a 1 GByte matched memory pair specifically designed for motherboards supporting dual channels of registered PC3200, such as AMD Athlon TM 64 FX based platforms.
Specifications:
Manufacturer: Corsair
Speed: DDR400(PC3200)
Type: 184 Pin DDR SDRAM
Error Checking: ECC
Registered/Unbuffered: Registered
Cas Latency: 2-3-2-6
Support Voltage: 2.6V
Bandwidth: 3.2GB/s
Organization: two 64M x 72 -Bit
Special Features: Plug-n-Frag Auto-Configuration
Warranty: Lifetime

My question is, will this memory work in my mobo and with my processor, or is this only compatible with FX chips?

If the 3800+ is 939 socket, you better take it back.

939 sockets are incompatible with Registered memory.

Why is it incompatible? Wouldn't it just not use the features registered memory provides? You can pop ECC memory in a non-ECC system and it just won't use the extra bits.

I called corsair, and they said it would be incompatible. I need the same stuff TWINX1024-3200LLPT only without the RE in the product number, prolly indicating REGISTERED.
