All I can say so far is I'm not impressed....that's very disappointing since the XMS3500 was hopefully going to give us some room...:(

looks like both sticks (XMS3500) are getting returned because neither can run their rated speed of 217:434 cas2337 ~ utter garbage!

That's a darn good read LastRide, thanks a lot for that. The way Thugsrook's testing of the XMS3500 is going, plus the info I got out of that thread kind of kill my excitement for getting XMS3500...I don't know if it'll do what we all want--->to allow us to test the max speeds of these mobile P4's....hmmm....

to reckeck my testing acuracy i retested a stick of ram that was 1st tested here a few months ago.

original score 2 months ago:

XMS3000 C2 256mb (stick#1)
Cas 2-2-2-7 > > > > > > > > > > > > > 405ddr
Cas 2.5-3-3-7 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 445ddr

score as of today:

XMS3000 C2 256mb (stick#1)
Cas 2-2-2-7 > > > > > > > > > > > > > 405ddr
Cas 2.5-3-3-7 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > 445ddr

so it looks as tho nothing has changed within my system :D

hhmmm PJ's situation has got me wondering what's up with the GB boards also... maybe its nothing or maybe it will surface before they become more widely available

that thread last ride linked was a very interesting read!!! same to say I don't think I'll be buying any xms pc3500 soon in light of this & thugsrook's results so far with 2 sticks :(

I hope my new mobo (Epox 4PEA+) & prometeia get here asap so that i can test the limits of my new xms pc3200c2. If by any chance it hinders my total oc I think I'll try Geil's pc3700 or OCZ pc3500 EL DDR, after that read I'm not to keen on putting xms pc3500 before either of these :frown:

So the real question arises. GB with a good P4. Or hopefully my IT7-Max2 or BE7-R with a P4m.

Why did you jump out of the Abit boards Thugs? I am planning on going Asus... but for a totally different feature that has nothing to do with OC'ing and/or stability.

BTW. Thanks for this thread. I cancelled my order for XMS3500. But where do I get some XMS3000 (and black or platinum?)? I seen them at googlegear. But I am not all to impressed with their prices.

yes i highly suggest the 3000 ~ either black or plat will do, dont matter.

512mb sticks overclock and perform just as well as a 256mb stick, so there is no fear there either.

there are a few threads around the net concerning P4m motherboard compatability.
IT7 has a problem with agp lock i believe.
the P4B533 is the only sure thing so far.

Hmm... well the XMS3200 costs less than the XMS3000 by about $12. Which is better of the two? Well I think I will go for the XMS3200...

Wait.
What are your voltages? There is too much brain food in here to re-read it all and I might get full. I would think the lower voltage memory would be the winner unless they are at the same. In which case the XMS3200 is better it would seem.

My 2-2-2-7 testing was done at 2.7Vdimm (more voltage didn't help), the 2.5-3-3-7 testing is using 2.9Vdimm. All testing was done using a 1:1 ratio. Hope that helps:).

i already did more testing then i care to admit using the P4m....
3:4 is more difficult to run then 1:1 for the mem.

i just want to clarify that all testing i did in this thread was using 2.6v and 3:4 for the "avg joe overclocker".

i realize that recently things have changed for us, but i didnt want to invalidate my previous results in any way.

"THUGSROOK - a benchmarker who cares. . ." :p

hey, THUGS, I just got my XMS3500 (can I go home now??;)) and noticed that the sticker on the heatspreader is different than the usual small white w/black text style; this one's about 2 inches long and a 1/2 inch wide and (ooooooooooo) it's holographic:D! Did your XMS3500 come with this new-style sticker? LMK;)
