I know people will crap on me for this but I just bought a socket 754 Athlon 64 3400+ (2.4 GHz) to replace my Duron 1.8 GHz. Yeah, yeah, it's not socket 939.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is really a significant difference in frame rates on video games like UT2004 if I only run the CPU at stock speeds.

I was thinking of getting an Abit KV8 Pro with AGP then I started thinking if I want to replace mobo/CPU next year, it would be easier to re-sell it on eBay if I had PCI-E slot instead. Anyone know anything about the Abit NV8 based on the Nvidia NF4-4X chipset?

I'm also looking for a silent heatsink. :)

How about not even getting an Abit board in the first place? Try a DFI lanparty board.

For a heatsink, go for a Thermalright XP-90 matched with a Japanflo from jab-tech.com

Well, you see here there isn?t much of a difference in performance. And no, I?m not overclocking.

Ah, just found the article I wanted to find. Look at this one. At stock speeds, the Abit KV8 Pro actually beats the DFI Lanparty. LOL

Anyway, any ideas on RAM here?

But, I suppose as far as re-selling goes, it might be better to buy the DFI so someone looking to overclock would want to buy it.
