How well doe the Corsair Value Select work with the MSI K8N Neo4/SLI board which is the board I have?

I can only say that corsair has a pretty good rep as far as compatibility goes.

Corsair Value Select with Asus or DFI, I have heard that MSI has some quality control issues with their products.

I'm going to have to disagree.

DFI would be better if the OP plans to OC heavily.
MSI would be best overall, plus could OC well.
Asus wouldn't be in the picture at all. They seem to do very poorly with their A64 mobos 😉

And I'll have to agree with N7's comments on the mobo's, but disagree with both of you pertaining to Corsair VS. This memory has compatibility problems specifically with DFI NF-4. I'd recommend some OCZ for the DFI. For the MSI board corsair vs will work fine.

I'm running Corsair VS (2x512) in my MSI K8N Neo4 Plantinum SLI. No problems at all. I haven't overclocked it, though, so I can't speak to its abilities there.

No matter what you buy, don't make the mistake most people make and just buy ANY ram that's on sale. This forum is littered with posts from people with RAM timing issues - often caused by buying the wrong RAM.

Use the RAM manufacturer's online database to order the EXACT memory that's GUARANTEED to work with your mobo. Corsair has a memory configurator on their website, as does Crucial and most of the major memory vendors. You plug in the make and model of your mobo or OEM system and it tells you which memory to use. Modern mobos are VERY fussy about memory timing.

Also never mix and match sticks if your mobo supports dual channel. They need to be two MATCHING sticks.

I have 2 different 256MB Kingston sticks, and another 512MB Kingston stick, and they work perfectly in dual-channel mode with my NF7 nforce2 board (in a 2x256MB, 512MB configuration). The chips, timings, max clock and voltages on the 3 sticks are also different too.

I don't know if I'm lucky or what, and I do advise to use 2 identical sticks for dual-channel. But I do think that it is not a must to use 2 identical sticks for dual-channel mode.
