Hello,

I can get 2x512Mb of Corsair Value Select (DDR400 Cas 2.5) for about 120US$, and I want to know if it would be a good deal, currently I have:

PIV 2.6C@3.25 (stock cooling, FSB 250)
2 x 256 MB Kingston Value Ram Cas 3 DDR400 (running at 400 with memory divider 5:4, dual channel)
Msi 865Neo 2 (865Pe)
Seagate 7200.7 80GB SATA
Seagate Barracuda IV 7200 80GB PATA
ATI Radeon 9000

I don?t game, mainly I use this for video and audio encoding / editing (divx/mpg/DVD/mp3 ?) so ?

- Must I get the value select (will I get some improvement???)
- Must go for some other memory (the best that I can get here is that Corsair Value Select, anything else must be imported, for example 2x512MB Kingston HyperX 3200UL = 393 US$ !!!!)
- Just wait, there is a (little) chance that I can get to the US by year?s end, maybe I could come back with some nice memory ? and a X2

Your advice is very appreciated ? thanks

I've sold quite a few sticks of Corsair Value Select memory to various clients of mine, and haven't had a single hassle so far... I'd say it's definitely alright IMHO

I live in Peru, the most beautiful country in the world (at least until I get to know other one), but we don't get the good stuff (regarding memory, the best they bring here is Kingston Value Ram) ... well, regarding the prices, is all about taxes ...

That Corsair Value Select is from a guy that recently came back from the US, and brought some 1GB kits along with him ...

thanks for the advice

A lot of people here like Corsair VS.

I have 4x512 MB, & would recommend it to anyone :)

I've read of people reaching 215 MHz, but that's about max. And who knows if thats even accurate.
I agree that 205 MHz would be all one should expect.

what about 2x512MB Geil PC3200 Ultra-X, I could get those for about US$ 200 ... in another question, what is better for an overclocked PIV, low latency (running memory with divider) or bandwidth, I mean, with this GSkill i could do DDR400 at 2-2-2-5 or DDR500 at 2.5-3-3-6 (maybe 3-4-4-8) ...

i did 210MHz with 3.0Vmem 3-4-4-11 in Abit an7 / xp-m box, it was the max stable for me. Such a small increase is not worth it so i just went back to 2.5-3-3-11 @ 200MHz. Also, I have a dual Xeon 1.6LV @ 3.2GHz on Asus PC-DL rig that runs 2GB of Corsair VS at 204-208MHz (according to CPUz) w/o any problems and only a +0.08Vmem trace mod.
