Corsair TX850 and Fractal Node 304

Would Corsair TX850 fit in the Fractal Node 304?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Yes, but I recommend getting a modular 140mm PSU

  • Not likely

I want to transform my current rig to a mini-ITX rig. At the same time, I want to reuse as much components from my current rig as possible.

I currently have a Corsair TX850 PSU. It is not modular. Would I be able to fit it in the Node 304? The size of the PSU is not the problem. The cable mess it.

Here's a pic of the PSU.

Even if it is a tight fit, I would try to use it.

Notes:

  • I have confirmation that the Thermalright Silver Arrow Extreme will fit just fine in that case.
  • The Asus Z87I-Pro will also allow the cooler to be installed just fine.
  • I would have to sell the RAM and get new ones as I have 4GBx4 and I want to get 8GBx2.
  • Rest of the components are just fine.

I would not bother, a mini ITX rig is never going to be power hungry enough to warrant such a PSU. And yes, that bunch of cables would be problematic in a tight case, especially with a super bulky CPU cooler installed. It's just not going to work.

You're better off selling it or keeping it as a backup, and grabbing a new Gold-rated 500W unit (or 600W, not sure what GPU you intend to have).

I'd also consider using a Corsair H90 push-pull for CPU cooling instead. Much more compact. http://www.overclock.net/t/1372265/build-pics-node-304-gtx-titan-h90

All those components are going to cost a ton. If I cannot use the PSU, I might as well hold off this project. Gonna rethink it when Broadwell comes out.
