Corsair TwinX 2 2 2 5

Guys, see my current specs in sig..

I have 10 minutes to decide... Is it worth upgrading to this memory??
I can get this memory for 289 (cost) 1 gig of Corsair XMS Series TwinX 2 2 2 5.. I hear that AMD systems perform much better with lower latency memory. Someone convince me to get this, or let me know if they have run in a system like mine. I like my processor oc so far, but it wont be worth it to me if I can't run this memory at 215 with the agressive timings.

There was a memory article a few months ago on Tom's that showed while there is a benefit to using lower latency RAM with the Athlons... it wasn't as big of a factor as using the low latency RAM with Intels. The difference would probably be even less noticable since you already are running at 2.5. If you were using CAS 3 RAM you could make a case for it maybe... but I'd like to think you're better off just saving your money and maybe just buying a stick of RAM to match your existing RAM if you want a gig of memory.

Thanks. My stomach started to get a little sick as I handed the cc over, but I changed my mind.. Not worth it, I think I'll be better off with a 6800gt than this memory. Thanks for being the convincing factor 🙂

Yeah, I really need to get a hold of a 2nd generation 754 mobo. Almost all of them with an AGP lock can get 2.4 out of a A64. Thats a A643500+ for the price of 100 dollars.

To answer your question, no. You wont see a damn difference. I would just get Corsair 2.5 cas value ram . The onboard memory controller of the A64 surpasses the benefits of timings if not make the memory timings obsolete all together. OCz 3500EB is the only one I would recommend for optimal overclocking performance.
