This forum is for Hot Deals. $285 for a near top tier SSD is still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced.

Memory and storage discussion is this way!

and here

The vertex is a better drive, and tiger direct has 10% cashback if you do the right search.

not it isn't, the 120gb you posted is $345 Vs $285 for the Corsair.

120gb vertex
384.99 original price
-39.65 10.3% Bing Cash Back
-40 Mail in Rebate
yields
304.99 after rebate and cash back

vs
128gb corsair (the corsair uses a samsung controller)
325.99 original price
-8.14 2.5% Bing Cash Back
-40 Main in Rebate Gift Card
277.85 after rebate and cash back

So the Vertex is 27 dollars more. Now compare the results of the corsair drive (samsung) vs the vertex drive.

Random Read Speed of a 4kb file in MB/S (higher is better)
Samsung 21.4
OCZ Vertex (firmware 1275) 34.9
Veloicraptor 0.55

Random Write Speed 4kb of a 4kb in MB/S (higher is better)
Samsung 0.53
OCZ Vertex (firmware 1275) 6.47
Veloicraptor 1.63

Information taken from the two anandtech articles about the vertez
http://www.anandtech.com/stora...owdoc.aspx?i=3531&p=25
http://www.anandtech.com/stora...howdoc.aspx?i=3535&p=3
Note I am using the updated numbers from the most recent firmware which anandtech used on the 2nd article for the vertex results. Regardless even with the old firmware the vertex was killing the samsung it is just a greater degree with the new firmware.

Roland00, its true that the corsair uses the samsung controller but I am pretty sure this drive is using the new samsung controller (I know the 256gig one is), which is the same controller as in the ocz summit drives (vertex is still a bit faster, which is odd since the summit has a higher price but...)

wtf are you talking about. It IS a hot deal for a top tier SSD.

Find another place cheaper if it's not a hot deal. It's like saying buying a Lambo for 20% off retail isn't a hot deal... uh... yeah actually it is.

Those are for the first gen sammy controller. The Corsair P series uses the 2nd gen sammy controller, and is a better deal than the vertex.
