Corsair ram in cpu-z

I just got some of the PC2700 Corsair value memory. It came in the Corsair package with the Corsair sticker on it and its all labelled right. I am just worried because no brand at all shows in CPU-Z. It just shows as 512MB PC2700 (which is what it is supposed to be.) I haven't had time to extensively test the module yet, but I am just wondering if the value line doesn't show up as Corsair or if I got ripped off.

Probably won't matter, it's going into a syntax (via) mobo with a 2600+/333, which won't be pushed hard. It shouldn't have problems, should it?

I can't specifically tell you about your RAM, but I know that my 2 - 512 sticks of XMS3200LL show up in CPU-Z as "Corsair XMS3200LL".

Actually, I was wrong. It shows up as "DDR-SDRAM PC3200 - 512MB." At SPD, this setup crashes at 166fsb in prime95. Can't conclude its the ram, but it probably is.

I ordered Corsair PC2700! What gives? The chips are each labelled valueselect, so I guess it has to be corsair... ideas?

Edit: jumped to conclusions

My stick of Buffalo shows up as Mosel PC3200. If it works, and looks like Corsair, don't worry about it.

Perhaps Corsair just didn't include the necessary information for CPU-Z to detect the type of memory on the SPD. If it says Corsair on the memory, then it most likely is.

There are countless reasons that your computer could be crashing while running Prime95. Other reasons include software problems, the power supply, inadequate cooling, or the motherboard to name some of the most common causes of such problems. Give us more information on your system. Also, when you crash, are you talking about a BSOD, a reboot, a complete system halt, or something else? It is possible you can take a look at the event viewer (Assuming you have an NT based OS) and get some more useful information.

I tried in another system with the same results (but didnt run prime95).

The system is a Syntax SV400 (Via KT400) with a thoroughbred (sp?) 2600+. 550W PowMax psu with 1 hd 1 cdrw and a GeForce FX5600. PSU Should not be the problem. Mobo might be, because thats a cheap piece of crap. When it crashes, it usually just locks up completely. Sometimes Prime95 just gets rounding errors or other hardware errors. Games run fine from what I can tell but I will be installing Halo tonight to run some benchmarks.

I guess I am just being paranoid.

The voltages may be fluctuating enough to make it crap out. Check the voltages either in the BIOS\MBM5 or with a multimeter (preferrable) and see if they're fluctuating or low.

Oops, it's actually a PowerMagic PSU. I don't think PowMax makes a 550W. MBM5 does not support this board, thats how bad it is. I will check bios voltages and edit with results.

thats normal for every stick of Corsair value select I have used (bout a half dozen of them). I have a cas3 pc3200 stick in my kids pc that says it is cas 2.5 pc3200 in the spd data. No mention of corsair atall in the spd. I think value select is just generically manuactured for Corsair and then binned for the different speeds after the fact.
