Corsair RAM HELP ME !!

Well, got new Corsair valuselect 2x512, the deal in hot deals right now ( http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=40&threadid=1557247 ). It worked ok before i went to work. 6 hours later i came home, had to restart, and I am getting the blue screen of death everytime I start up (with the heading Memory_Management). I reseated teh RAM, made sure nothing was touching it. I guess i cant even get far enough to run memtest 🙁 Also, safe mode didnt help. I was able to get to windows fully loaded twice but now it just doenst ever get that far.

Im on a Dell4600 ( 🙁 ) so ram timings cannot be changed. Im running them dual channel (i suppose I should try them not in dual channel as well) Am I up a creek? Anyone know how good zipzoomfly is with RMA's and returns?

EDIT: havent tried indivisual sticks yet, ill do it in the morning so I can make noise without keeping the ppl here awake bc my house sucks @ keeping noise in one place

Suggestions?

alrighty, here is from my CPUz

Things to note
1) I have a Dell Dim 4600 motherboard but the Dim. 2400 processor (2.8 Northwood, 533fsb - i switched the motherboards out to get AGP a while back).
2) I have gotten one stick of RAM to work fine, the other does not (get blue screen of death so I cannot even get as far as using memtest86).

For compatablilty, I add my Dim 4600 and it tells me this:

does this mean its not compatable with the RAM i bought (it is VS521MB400) depsite the fact that I have one stick that works fine (seeminly) and one that does not?

I did my module and got this:

I have the Intel i865PE motherboard (according to CPUz) but that is not exactly on that list either.

this looks bad for me......I still got one stick to work though.....
EDIT: i think, my comp randomly froze on me, so Im gonna assume this ram isnt the one for me 🙁
What really peaves me off is this ram worked PERFECT for the first hour it was in the comp before I had to go to work.

UP

looking for final word on compatability of this with my computer, anyone know for sure? i guess its not, evidence points towards no.

🙁

Well, it s/b fine. Your system uses PC 2100 (FSB 133) and this VS is PC 3200 (FSB 200).

So, it should run at FSB 133 w/o a prob. Could be that your lack of BIOS options is the problem. If your BIOS are stuck in "Auto" for ram, might be a problem as it may be trying to run the ram @ FSB 200, which your mobo likely can't handle.

If you can get it running long enough, try to find out what FSB speed the ram is running at, and what timings it's using.

At the end of the day, it may just be a bad stick. I bought some VS a month or so ago and it wouldn't run at rated specs so I RMA'd it.

why can't you just use a bootable cd and run memtest86? i dont understand. there will be no blue screens if you bypass windows and boot from CDROM before HDD

mostly because i'm a nub and didnt realize that you use a bootable disk to run memtest86. However, I will attempt this.

Anyway, it may be a bad stick, but if I cant change the timings and that not in BIOS it seems like im up the creek anyway (thank you Dell) as the one stick that seemed to work did not produce a stable system. Ill run memtest and see what the deal is with the sticks.

thanks

altight----
did the stick of ram that I thought was broken in memtest86
IMMEIDIATELY i got errors. I stopped the test after i reached 110,000 errors (thats was about 1min 30 seconds into the test)
Im doing the 2nd test now, it just finished its first pass without an error. Lets see if I can run my system on this stick with stability......

EDIT: yeah the 2nd stick that "passed" memtest is still holding strong after a few hours of gaming. now if only that bastardly other stick worked...... oh well. RMA here I come
