I'm looking at matched pair sets of Corsair PC3200 memory for a new P4 system. The PC3200LL pairs have a decent price premium over the "plain" PC3200 from Corsair, because of low latency. Are the timings of these pieces really different? And should I be considering Kingston Hyper-X or some other brand? These will hopefully be for a Canterwood board. Thanks.

From what people say, CAS doesn't matter too much with the intel chips... well, it's not as big a performance difference as it is with AMD. I have a 512 PC3200LL XMS stick on a P4P800 deluxe board.... big issues with the spds of 2-2-2-6. Ended up having to run CAS to RAS of 3 and bumping voltage to get DDR400 out of it - and this is in single channel mode (waiting until I have money for a second stick).

After raising the important CAS to RAS and all that, I wish I'd saved $30 and bought PC3500 Kingston HyperX.

Crucial 256MB PC3200 with the "micron" chips have been getting pretty good reviews, 2-2-2-6 settings over 230MHZ. Dunno about the 512mb variety though.
