I have a 512mB PC2700 value select Corsair chip (2.5, 3, 3).
the memory chips though are actually Samsung TCB3 (K4H560838D)
it seems to be very overclockable, letting me hit 381 MHz easy, but I hit a clock bottleneck,
so I can't go further.
Is this simply a samsung chip in wolfs clothing?

Looks like it
a few companies do that
they buy from the big outfits like Samsung and select good yeilds put a heatspreader on it and sell it to you

Yeah, but it's all worth it, I'd rather have a tested stick and a good heat spreader for a few extra bucks.

It's just not the "true" Sammy, which was the stuff to get before the Corsair XMS stuff came out.
