Corsair Obsidian 800D and installation of SSD

You won't get a slow down using that...since that IS hooked up to the motherboard. You would only see a slowdown if you connect it to a USB 2 enclosure.

I have the same case and I can tell you for a fact that Corsair had/has issues with that backplane. 6G SSD speed just brings the issue out even more. I gutted mine because I didn't want to deal with future raid issues but mainly so I could stuff more drives into my case instead of using an external tower.

They even have a 6G upgrade kit for that case if that gives you any clue to the fact that the backplane is rated at 3G interface. Even that kit hasn't helped everyone though since the hotswap bays were never designed for SSD.

I was thinking of getting that SATA 6Gb/s Upgrade for my 800D. I will be using a SATA III SSD. I will probably grab the USB 3.0 Upgrade as well.
