I'm looking to get 2 gigs of memory for a system I'm building (Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe, Athlon X2 4400+, X1900XT or XTX). Any opinions on this memory from Corsair? It's pretty cheap with the $50 rebate right now ($140, even cheaper than Value Select right now). I'm just hoping to run it at the stock 400mhz.

Also, there is another version of this memory, with the same rebate:

I can't really tell what the difference is. Is the only difference the color of the heat spreader (platinum vs black)?

Any help would be much appreciated ;)

definately go with the XMS series rather than the valueselect series for about the same price.

both products are the same except for different colored heatspreaders, and they both have 2-3-3-6 memory timings.

go with the platinum. in the newegg description, the platinum heat spreader is a "Feature" (the black one doesn't have a feature description but it should be before Warranty and after Heat Spreader) so it must be better. plus, the platinum gets 5 eggs and has more ratings while the black one gets 4 eggs and has less ratings. i think the black one looks better and i'm sure both of them perform extremely well but i would say the platinum is just a bit better
