Corsair HD120 RGB Fan on a Noctua Heatsink?

I'm wondering if I can use the Corsair HD120 fans on a Noctua heatsink instead of that ugly brown fan that comes with it, hopefully without performance issues.

For my next build I'm planning to get an i7 8700K and overclock it beyond 4.5Ghz. I'm going for air cooling as I wish to avoid the nonsense and hazard of water coolers. Noctua NH-U9S is going to be my choice. Problem is, that thing is hideous. My next PC is going to be all RGB inside a CM Stryker case, which means a white+black+RGB color scheme. So as you can imagine the Noctua fan would ruin that look.

I suspect the Corsair HD120 fans are meant to be for cases only, but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated, including a recommendation for a good-looking CPU cooler fan. I have searched for those but found nothing so far.

First of all, the NH-U9S uses a 92mm fan, not a 120mm. If you are going to overclock, you will want to go with at least the NH-U12S which uses a 120mm fan. I'd recommend going with at least the NH-U14S (140mm fan) if you are going to run higher overclocks.

Secondly, the Corsair fan you mentioned is ok static pressure wise (for a case fan), but you will lose a little bit of cooling efficiency as the Noctua fans are higher static pressure. I can't personally recommend any pretty fans for you, as the only thing I care about is its performance and quietness.

As far as LED fans go, the HD120 is a good choice but I don't think there is any LED fan that will match the performance of the Noctua. There are some good fans with white blades like the Swiftech Helix120.

You could also try something like this. I have no idea if it's any good.

This is their little product demo.

I'm definitely buying the 140mm version of that Phanteks RGB frame. Thank you very much for suggesting it. It's the solution to the aesthetic dilemma when paired up with the NF-A14 iPPC-3000 fan. The brown rubber pads on that fan will have to be replaced though. It looks like I'll also have to go for the NH-D15 instead of the NH-U9S

Thank you both for the help.
