I am going to order a Corsair H60 soon to replace my megahalem(I didn't make this thread on opinions on whether or not i should ditch my megahalem. I have already decided to. The megahalem restricts my ability to get good ram with sexy large heatsinks for overclocking) How do you put a 120x38mm fan on the radiator???? IS there a specific screw i need to buy?

I'm sure the H60 comes with instructions and the screws you need to get it working.

The screws are likely for 120mm x 25mm, which is standard. OP, you should email Corsair, as your fans are oversized (thick). Screaming Delta fans?

The screws on most rads are 6/32, you will need simply to get longer screws. be careful not to get them too long because the tubes in the rad are easily punctured. You can add washers under the screw head or cut the screw if you are in between lengths available. Take the fan and rad with you to the hardware store.

i dont know if its going to be 6/32..

It could be Metric 4.

:X

the best thing to do is find a 38mm + 2mm ~ 40mm screw at a hardware store.

Take your stock screw so you can compare which thread it looks like.

Screws will go through fan, through case into rad making a sandwich of the case metal. I like to use a foam weatherstripping in between the fan and case, it helps with noise.

if thats how it has to be then i wont get the h60. I want the Rad screwed to the case then the fan screwed to the rad in push config so basically a sandwich with the rad in the middle

Case > Rad > Fan

That works, it makes no difference how you assemble the beast. For that you will need longer screws for the fan, thickness of fan plus enough to catch the threads in the rad and short screws to go through the case to the rad. Very short in fact, you may need to use spacers/ washers so they don't catch the fins of the rad. This is where I would use the weatherstripping in this instance between the rad and case to deaden the sound.

Take this with a grain of salt since I don't own a h60 but in my own experience I have tried several configuration the worst was case>fan>rad with the airflow out the case. Best with a single fan was case>rad>fan blowing out the case. You should be fine mounting it that way as long as you have screw holes on the side you want to mount the fan. And you can take a fan to Home depot/Lowe's/Ace Hardware and get the proper screw length. you want it to extend 1/8 inch or less so you dont damage the radiator.

you might try these to deaden vibrations.

tho they may be a pain to use those on a radiator, but at the price it ain't much of a loss.

corsair has the screw specs on their site in the cooling FAQ: http://www.corsair.com/support/faq/cooling/

The screw thread and length are 6 x 32 x 1 1/4"

#6 machine thread, 32 TPI (threads per inch), 1.25 inches in length.

i just went to home depot and got the screws i needed to mount a second fan for push/pull. this thread size comes in varying lengths so whether you need longer for the fatter fan or smaller for mounting the rad directly to the case, they'll have something that works.

alright thank you! So i need tiny screws(could i just those Hex coarse threaded case screws to screw the rad to case) and then get half inch or tiny bit longer screws for the fan to the rad.

yeah thats what i mean by Case > rad > fan. blowing out the system

I love rubber screws, use them or fabricate soft mounts any place I can. My case has 17 fans IIRC and you can't hear them while the TV is on in the room.

H60 has been ordered! Finally one step closer to have legitimate memory rather then this shitty XM3 memory that cant do anything near the rated 1600mhz

I got XMS3 1600 and I've had it up to nearly 1800 before backing off and setting the multi to 8 and pushing my bclk to 180. cant seem to get my 950 to 4.2 without a boosting core v to 1.33. need to get a better rad before I push it higher.

ive come up with an idea. I have this 120x25mm fan here perfect for a shroud. So i think i mite need like 2.5 inch screws because i may shroud my san ace so that it makes the temperatures even better

That is the exact screw and I got them at home depot as well. It comes with 6 per bag. and came in exactly that

They look like:
