Corsair Force Series GS vs Samsung 840

Looking to replace my dead hard drive in my late 2011 MacBook. I just purchased a Samsung 840 nonpro, 500 gb.

Today I found a corsair force gs 480 gb for $20 cheaper.

Which would be the better buy? I appreciate the help. I have done some looking but didn't find a straight answer.

For those who want to know, the deal is on Newegg.

Again, thanks in advance for the help.

It's only 20 bucks and you actually for 20GB more capacity with the SSD 840. I don't see any point in returning the drive.

If you already have the 840 you may as well stick with it. It is at least the equivalent to the GS if not better. The Corsair has the SandForce SF2200-series controller anyway, I think the Samsung, even the standard 840, is a better choice.

That was my primary concern, The sandforce controller.

Apple use Samsung drives as their OEM drives so I would certainly stick with what you have as you will be far less likely to have any problems.

TBH, I have a 64GB OCZ Agility3 with the evil SF-2281 controller and I have not had a bit of a problem with it... but I baby it. I don't sleep or hibernate it, which you will probably do with your MacBook, and I back up my new data almost constantly because I fear That Day.

In fact, I just replaced it with a Samsung 840Pro... 😉
