Specifically, I want to know if I can use the Corsair TW3X4G1333C9DHX on a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4.

For some reason although Intel specs 1.6 volts for the P55 chipsets, Gigabyte says 1.5 volts.
These corsair DIMMs are 1.6. I will be using 8Gb of whatever with a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit setup.

I am building my own for the first time, mainly as a Photoshop machine for 2D photo editing, so I don't want to do a lot of tweaking or overclocking. I just want a more or less current system that will handle Photoshop with ease running at "idle."

Kingston has a 1.5v DIMM that will work fine, I just like the extra cooling fins on the corsair. I don't know if they really matter or not, so any comments on that are appreciated.

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie. :)

The Kingston 1.5v DIMMs are JDEC standard, 1.6v is not. I recommend going with the standard, especially with DDR3.

As for the cooling fins: they look cool--and generally that's about it, if you aren't overclocking.

Your motherboard should have a QVL, qualified vendor's list for memory....

OK here it is, "related links" box to the right:

Lots of Kingston RAM on the approved list....again, I recommend you go with that.

Thank you, NX--I did just that.

Really looking forward to my first build. Glad I found such a valuable resource with you all on these forums.
