It's been 3 weeks since i made my new build.Everything works fine except one thing:every time i turn off the computer the psu continues to emits sounds as if the pc was still on that go away only if i unplug the psu from the wall.Is that normal? And it makes a weird screeching noise whenever i run the atitool artifact checker. No problems in games tho.Should i send the psu back or is this normal?

As much as I don't want to admit it (because I love my PSU) my CX430V2 does emit a high pitched whine after I turn the computer off... But I can't hear it unless my ear is within 6" of the power supply... and I have very good hearing.

Never use the atitool artifact checker, however.

I'm not sure what the issue is if it's making noise while it's off. But, I did discuss with some people on johnnyguru.com about a high-pitched hum coming out of my Corsair PSU. Anyway, they said it would still function normallly and that it's a common defect they can fix. I could have had it RMA'd but I was too lazy to do so. Now I wonder if they'll RMA a 3 year old psu. I don't even think I sent the warranty card. It's just in a backup machine anyway.

Mine did the same. In my case, there was a ceramic cap on the board making all the noise. A bit of epoxy on the cap solved the issue. YMMV, of course, the offender is circled in red. Luckily it's only a $0.02 fix.

Of course, doing so will void your warranty...I'd rather just RMA a noisy power supply.

Of course, if you have the option to RMA without having to pay an arm and a leg for shipping that would be the best choice. The Builder series have a 3 year warranty, so depending on how close or over the 3 years coolpurplefan is that might not be an option.

Every computer I had ATI Tool always managed to make that screeching noise. If its quiet in most cases, don't sweat it because the replacement might be worse.

RMA'ing a noisy power supply becomes more practical when the PSU costs more than double the shipping cost... many of us bought CX430 for $20 or less after rebate.

However, some of you may have magnetic component(s) whining instead of the capacitor MrTeal's unit had.
