Corsair, Crucial, OCZ

All are great so get whatever is cheapest. Low latency RAM does nothing for performance.

EDIT: Get Corsair Value Select.

I've been using Crucial in all my personal machines for the past 5 years. I like their quality, stability, and excellent service.

It isn't that it does nothing for performance, benchmarks definately show improvements. It is that it does not show enough higher performance to be worth the extra money most of the time. However, for people who are going for the highest possible benchmark scores, low latency RAM does help get them there (although i doubt anyone from AnandTech will be breaking any 3DMark records)

what is service? Do you call them when you play with RAM timings?

Which would be the better RAM regardless of price:

Both have teh same timings and latency.

If you have the DFi nForce 4 moptherboard, which can support up to 3.2V memory voltage; The OCZ Gold VX RAM is unbeatable in both latency and performance

Otherwise if you can't support the 3.2 voltage, then Crossair would be better

and the value vx would be unbeatable in performance, latency, and price.(well very similar to the twinmos)

OCZ...hands down...

^^^^to last poster...i disagree...good ram is definately a must...also if your OC'ing value RAM simply wont do....value as in no name

Dpending on your board, either one. If you have a board that supports over 3V for RAM (or a voltage booster) that OCZ will run at 2-2-2 at over 250 MHz. If not, it will "only" run at 2-3-3 (IIRC).

I would still get the value VX over the vx gold. It still has great timings at 3.2V (2-2-2) and can OC well. There are much better places to put money in a computer.

Nope, I dont buy their memory for O/c'ing or mess with timings.

I had a Dell laptop, bought 2x 256MB PC133 CL2 for it. The sticks were brand new, but didnt boot up. I called them, and they said even though I didn't buy it through them (I got it off ebay), and it has a lifetime warranty, they would replace them for me.

Another time, I have a Dell PowerEdge 400SC, I bought 2x 512MB ECC PC3200 to match the identical set to go with it. But when I had the 4 pcs all together installed, I was noticing that the system was very unstable. I called them, they swap the set for me and the system has been working fine ever since. 😀

Now that is what I "service".

Corsair Value Select is good RAM and it would be fine for overclocking. Just run a divider...

i agree w/ kooldrew... just run a divider.. some have seen good results w/ value rams...
but if u've got the cash laying around.. why not spend money on some quality ram....
look into G.Skill ram.. they are also great...

It should at 200 MHz, but some have said that the DFI will not work with the Corsair Value. Kingston's value ram may be more compatible.

I've read reports about Abit boards being very picky about the power supply and RAM. The truth is that I haven't had ANY problem with Kingmax value ram, corsair value ram, 350W super flower, and 500W super flower with these boards.
