Corsair Cool WC Kit (Updated with Pictures!)

Does anyone have this? I just bought it after reading some really good reviews. I'm taking my first shot at water cooling. I'm hoping to add a VGA block later after having worked with it a bit. Anyone have first hand experience and know how quiet this thing is?

*Edit* PICTURES of the worse Cable Management EVAR! 🙂

I noticed that my Memory and mosfets were getting EXTREMELY hot after removal of the XP-90 (I'm guessing that the air blown through the fins and onto the chipset and memory helped A LOT). I just did a makeshift way of installing a totally ghettofied 120mm fan using the top PCI slot screw and a bent PCI cover that's zip tied to that fan. Check it out! It's VERY effective, and easily adjustable and VERY solid. No need to worry about it falling off. I know that it looks very ghetto but I don't have a windowed case, so it's all good. 🙂

I believe GalvanizedYankee has several of them in his riggs!!
He would be the one to talk to!!

From what I know its a real good deal!!

No I don't. A Intel P4 2.8 on a Intel MB with a Zalman 7000. When I'm ready for a P4P 800
i will talk to you young Jedi about OCing on air.
The one being built now is a ECS755 A2 w/AMD3200. It will also have a 7000 on it.

OP, I do not see WC in my future. Wc is relativly new and many bugs still remain. The
guys that are on it still argue over electrolysis and type of coolent. I do think it is a mighty
wave of what is to come. Huge mainframes and servers will be WC fairly soon,i do believe.
The benifits for them are manifold.

I looked at the Corsair system on line and like anything else that's new with PCs.
It's a work in progress.

You chose your partner, dance well with her 😉
Remember allways, there is no destination, only the journy. Enjoy your work.

May the farce be with you. 😛

If you are going to get a kit, get the Swiftech Apex. Otherwise, research and buy individual parts.

The Corsair kit will work, but once you have watercooling, you are gonna want to OC and see how high you can go. The Corsair simply WILL NOT perform anywhere close to a custom kit.

Buying a kit seems like it is a good idea at first for people that are new to watercooling, but believe me, it is the same amount of work to just do it yourself. Installation isn't any easier with a kit, and they perform worse. Seriously- do some research.

I had the EXOS-2 by Koolance, and it gets AWESOME reviews.. but in reality it sucks and was a waste of about 400bucks after buying the water blocks and stuff. I finally ripped it out in frustration when seeing it's poor performance compared to what others are doing with their custom setups (for cheaper) and I replaced it with a system that totally blows it away. I should have saved my money.

That being said, if you MUST get a kit- get the Swiftech Apex. All the components are common ones that you see in people's DIY setups- like the StormG4 CPU block (incredible block), the pump (same as a D5 pump just different name), and a nice radiator (120.2).

El what are your idle and load temps w/ your WC'ing?

Enquiering minds want to know?

First of all, keep in mind that I am in Southern California, with no air conditioning- so obviously these temps will be higher than most people's probably.

With my Koolance system at 2760mhz (its max) and 1.52v, I used to idle at about 34C and get to 51C or so load (2 Prime95s running with large FFTs). With my current system at *only* this speed, it's about 30C idle and 40C load.

At 2880mhz and 1.64v, I idle at about 32C and get to about 43C load. On hot days I've seen it get as high as 47C, and at night it's around 41C or 42C. I'm idling at 30C right now btw (at night).

At 2920mhz Prime95 fails with 2 instances, but Superpi32M never gets temp above 40C, and idle is about the same.

With my original xp-120 air cooling, I could run at 2700mhz and ~1.47 volts, and I would idle about the same- maybe 34C or 35C, and it would get up to about 50 or 51 load.

My temps would be better on my CPU if I didn't cool my GPU also, but oh well- they are good enough, and ~2900mhz range is very high for an X2. I ran PCMark05 when at 2850mhz, and scored the ninth fastest overall time :Q

Here's my rig in its current state:

From a review I read, the Corsair Cool WC Kit is a rebadged Swiftech. And yes, the reviews I've read gave it very good marks.

The corsair kit resembles the old swiftech kits with the 3/8" barbed mcw6000. It will do fine for a slightly oc'ed system, but you will need a better kit like the new apex kit if you want to overclock a lot and keep good temps.

EL that is one very complicated WC system.
my old setup: modified zalman block, l35II pump, double heatercore.Text

My BIP3 just arrived and i'm still thinking about a new block.

my max load temp is 42C wtih my fans at 6-7v. i also live in SoCali with no AC
Running completely passive (no fans at all) i get about 55C.

wow quite the rig. Nice oc 🙂

Swiftech H20-APEX "Extreme Duty" Series Liquid Cooling --apprx $200......yes thats a very descent kit...

My temps with the zalman 9500 are 27c idle and under laod it is 38c I believe.....
I need to check again to make sure....I always forget to write things down..lol

In a few days I will be testing the XP 120....🙂

Yes I have 4 PC's all converted to the CWC100-1001. The install was simple in all the cases. 2 Sonatas; a P160 and a LianLi6070. The latter was a bit tougher because the HDD cage goes the the floor, whereas the Antec cases have clearance for the pump under the HDD cage. Watercooling dropped the OC'd P4 temps by 11*C (50 down to 39) and about the same on one of the Barton 2800's, the other Barton showed no drop from 50*+, but after burping the Rad again I got it down to 48*C. I plan to try reseating the CPU block again and see if it makes a difference. All in all ... I'm really impressed. My noise levels have decreased and so has the ambient room temp. (28*C to 23*C) I'm convinced watercooling is the way to go. Less noise, less heat; but more costly in the initial outlay; but if the lower CPU temps mean a longer lasting, yet OC'd, CPU; then maybe it is worth the extra $$.

Mine should be here today. I will post back in the next few days with results. My current temps are around 38-39 idle and 53-57 under load.

govtcheez: When you get your kit; you can use the CD-Rom to checkout the Corsair forums. Go to watercooling and you can find some of the threads that I have either started or replied to. "lhyde" I have posted pics of some of the installs I did and some of the minor problems I encountered, and how I was able to fix them. Getting the air completely out of the system seems to be the most common problem.

Will do. Thanks!

Just got done installing it. Bleeding it was a pain in the butt! I made the mistake of switching it on with the lid off and got LOTS of air in there. I got most of it out. The results looks good. 5-6 degree temp drop in idle. Haven't really stress tested to see load temps yet. I'm just psyched I got it in there. I probably should have tested for leaks, but got too excited and just installed it.

You do NOT want to see what a mess I have going inside my case right now. 😱

...I was in a big crunch for time and was so excited that I just threw everything in there. It's very sloppy.

haha...I'll snap some pictures tonight....but can guarantee that most people won't like what they see. I hope I don't get flamed for having crappy cable management. I swear that it looked halfway decent before all the upgrading.

In time, I'm sure you will organize it better. Props to you 🙂

Not that it matters. But the use of gentel bends is to be encouraged. In cooling and air brake
systems 45&90 degree fittings cause real line-loss. Every 90 adds about 15 of stright line run.

Thanks! Do you have any pictures of your setup? The tubing would have been better if I wasn't so paranoid about cutting them. I wanted to make sure that everything was long enough.
