Corsair Carbide 500r issues, done with Corsair

And it arrived on my doorstep with bugs inside it. D:

Yes, little brown mites, I wish I took a picture of it but I took the case out and found out that it has a stripped case door screw. The white paint on the front was missed a bit along the edges, and the top grill cover was bent on top.

So I just submitted a return through amazon and slapped a label and I am keeping it outside.

2nd case in a row with quality control issues from Corsair.

300r had USB shorting, reversed audio and misaligned side panels.
500r had a stripped screw, misaligned side panels and a mispainted front bezel.

I just cancelled my order for a 550D case and ordered an Antec P280. I will not order another corsair product until they start improving on their Q/A.

I know this may sound like a rant but it felt good to post this right now.

Anyone have any comments on the P280? I normally have good luck with Antec products and it looks promising for the price.

i also had one hell of a time getting a problem-free Corsair Carbide 500R just recently. i also ordered from Amazon (got the black one though, not the white one). the first case arrived w/ a cracked front bezel and one of the feet was broken off. i RMA'd it and got the replacement within a few days. the nice thing about the Amazon RMA process (with computer cases anyway) is that they'll cross ship, so its a much shorter waiting game than it is w/ other companies. anyways, while the replacement case had no visible damage, half of the front panel features did not work - specifically, the reset switch, the HDD LED, the case/fan LED on/off switch, and the fan controller did not work. when tech support discovered my 2nd RMA, they overnighted the 3rd case (2nd replacement) to me via FedEx at no charge, and gave me a $20 credit toward my next purchase. fortunately the 3rd time was a charm - my Carbide 500R is fully functional. i absolutely love it, but if its going to take 2 or 3 tries to get it right, i'm not so sure my next case will be from Corsair...

one of my machines sits inside a Coolermaster HAF 912, and i was considering replacing it w/ a Corsair Graphite 600T for better breathing/ventilation...but now i might consider a HAF 922 or something instead...

Same boat here Sunny. I had 2 defective GS600 PSUs, 300R, Corsair H60 (Radiator painted shut), another H60 with a very loud pump, now 500r.

Every Corsair product I receive seems to have some kind of flaw somewhere. There Q/A is nonexistant and the complaints on their forums shows this. I have yet to have a bad Antec product so their business will stay with me from now on.

HAF922 is on sale at NE today... 😀

I've got a HAF922, it's a big case for a middy... but it does move some air and, in my case, a fair amount of dust... just keep that in mind.

To the contrary, I want to replace my HAF922 with a Corsair 550D... :sneaky:

Every manufacturer has products that ship with problems, but they also ship products that don't have flaws. I have a Corsair TX750v2 PSU... fine unit, never a problem. Corsair delivered their rebate faster than the other 3 companies (filed at the same time.) I have a stick of Corsair DDR2 in my old Dell... never a problem. The list goes on.

It is human nature to complain... but maybe AT needs a 'Great product!' thread, where folks can post kudos on great products or service they received, so we can see the positives... not just the negatives.

Well, I want the 550D bad but I am afraid that it will be defective.

I just received a random survey with a case number from Corsair to my email about 7 minutes ago. They must be reading this thread.

EDIT: I talked to Amazon and they are overnighting me a replacement. I think I might keep the old one in case something comes with a bad part such as a front panel.

Corsair supported is fantastic, I had issues with my old 650D and they got everything to me instantly, no fuss. Give them a call 🙂

See my response in the 550D thread. RebateHQ company is awful, but Corsair CSR was great.
