That is a lot, trust me no one on this forum uses up all their 8GB ,, let alone 16GB.. just some thoughts.. :'(
How on earth can you say that when you have no clue what people use their computers for?

Start using VM's, video editing, and design packages and that RAM could quite easily be consumed.

I don't usually flame on a forum but I am not sure as to your purpose here. All you seem to do is post nonsense.

I have 12 and so far I'm comfortable, I was at 6 before and that was starting to use my Pagefile in larger projects. I do music production, mixing, etc... and I load all samples and files to memory. I can see myself using WAY more ram if I was a video engineer.

Edit - I should add that I do not use a page file anymore. Which is great:)

I think the RAM bottleneck will not be questioned.

Im mean really guys will there come a time we really need 32GB of RAM ?

On the first, bottle neck is normally refering to bandwidth restrictions, not the size of something. A small size is more of a "limiting factor".

On the second point, if their was no market / demand for them from customers, they would not be getting made.

Saying something like "why do we need it" is like the old quote attributed (and denied) by Bill Gates of "640K of memory - who needs more" (or something like that).

Do people still use ramdisks? Seems you could have a pretty nice ramdisk if you had that much RAM available.

Certain organizations use ramdisks to make encoded messages....the kind that are wiped in the event someone you don't want comes knocking on your door if you are trying to send an encoded messages via ghost drive....just saying =)

Not on their site yet. Curious as to price. If it's comparable price to 4GB DIMMs (ie. twice the price), then I could see purchasing them. But if they are 5x the price, then it wouldn't be cost-effective, unless that is the only way to fulfill your RAM requirements.

imagine 4 sticks of this. I think the RAM bottleneck will not be questioned.

um, thought we already HAD 1x8GB DDR3 desktop (non-ECC/non-buffered) modules... just that they cost something like $150-$200 per 1x8GB

(and surprisingly, 1x8GB ECC/registered costs ~$100

I am currently at 2x4GB... going to 4x4GB soon.... VirtualBox and other stuff eats RAM. Opera(my favorite web browser) can use as much RAM as you have/want it to have if you open a lot of tabs :D. it caches a lot

anyways, the Corsair Vengence 1x8GB on newegg (not instock). $270 per

I'd like for 8GB DDR3 SODIMMs to get cheap so I can get my beastly little Mini ITX gaming cube up to 16GB.
