Long story short, I jump on sandy bridge and now i am shopping out the rest of the parts. I saw in best buy where A50 is 19.99 and A70 is 27.99. I picked up the A70 and i am wondering how does it compare to A50 and Hyper 212+

A70 is obviously better than the A50 for cooling since it has more heat pipes, and I believe a push/pull setup. For that cheap, that's a steal so you should be happy with your choice.

ya good price. I saw the a70 on clearance at my local BB for 22 bucks and I bought all of them for the hell of it..

How should I apply thermal paste to this? The corsair pdf said to just put some paste in the middle of the cpu. However, soem report claim it is better to put the paste as a thin line at the copper pipe. Which is the correct method?

I tend to put a rice grain sized drop of thermal paste on the middle of the CPU heatspreader. Then, I wrap my index finger in saran wrap and spread the paste to completely cover the core with a very thin layer of paste.

Good luck! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

How did the A50 compare to the Hyper 212+

I like my A70. Fan isn't to my tastes but it will do until I decide to swap out my case fans.

Only problem I have with my A70 is that I have extra tall RAMsinks on my RAM (Corsair Vengeance) and I can't attach a the second fan.
