Corsair 800D video

I really like the details on this case.

Notice the creative way (@ 8:25 in the video) they are re-routing hard-drive air so the requirement for front fans is decreased.

My two criticisms:

1. The case is probably too big for a lot of people. I would hope Corsair makes a smaller case of equal quality for Micro-ATX/Mini-ITX users. Maintaining capacity for a triple radiator for a smaller case would be ideal.

2. An option for a solid black side panel would be nice. Not everyone wants a window (even if cable management is spot-on).

they have a classier version coming out called the 700d.

its the same size, but it looks more classier.

It looks as if the 700d is already available in the UK:

Edit: Aigo's right they are pre-order; available from 30/4/10.

ugh if the conversion holds its still ~$275 US

was really hopeing it would be cheaper like 200 ish

I was kind of hoping for a lower MSRP on the 700D. I really like the 800D but don't care for many of the features, and I wasn't willing to pay that much for it. I was ready to buy this upon release too...

Not a fan of the intakes being at the bottom in the PSU compartment. Just seems like its going to be heating the air being pulled into the case.

Yeah i asked yellow beard if it was possible on him trying to either sell me a earily sample, or if he could sponsor me a 700d.

i would love to pretty one up with a full assortment of water.

If they offer a slightly smaller (600D?) version with curves instead of the sharp edges for under $300, I'll be all over it.

Haha, I would laugh if they came out with a 120x3 Rad-supported MITX case. Someday...

Good point.

SFF and water cooling....that would be a small niche. (Probably too small huh?)

P.S. I am noticing 140mm fan based radiators are becoming more popular. Will 800D/700D accommodate that design? (ie, Thermochill 140.3, etc) Or are the fan openings at the top of the case too small?

@ 9:41 into the video he mentions an area for additional hard-drives. But why didn't corsair add a fan to cool them? (Space was available for an additional fan intake)

you wont catch me using a 140mm rad.

Just not sensible to someone like me who uses multi loops instead of 1 large rad.

But can't a person use two small 140mm rads in place of a single larger 120mm rad?

Isn't the only difference in the width/length ratio? (140mm being wider, but shorter per unit of cooling area)

Giant mutant sea snail! Kill it with fire!!!

Taste good with sake!

And what would u hope to accomplish on a 140 that you couldnt do on a 120?

Actually that design reminds me more of a centrifugal blower than a snail...

This one looks TOO weird even for the artistic crowd. 😉

no a 140mm fan will not fit in a 5/1/4 bay.

the case would need to be wider then the standard width.

If your gonna change cases, then you might as well find a case which can take a larger 120mm rad instead of a wider and larger case to fit a 140mm.

Until someone shows me its that big of an improvement, which it isnt, i dont think i'll ever recommend a 140mm radiator.

I'm talking about the fan openings @ the top of the 800D case (not the 5 1/4" bay).
