I use a brand-new 520HX with a Q6600 G0@3.3Ghz, 1.3 Vcore + G92 8800GTS@stock. Some of my friends said I will need to replace my PSU if I want to overclock to 3.6-3.8 Ghz. Do you think I will need to replace the 520HX for reaching 3.8 Ghz with watercooling? I do not plan any SLI configuration or GFX card overclocking. I just use 1 optical drive with 2 HDDs. What is the maximum Q6600 Mhz or vcore I can use long term with a 520HX?

No problem with that PSU. I would limit Vcore to VID plus 10% if you have a very good CPU cooler. The maximum load temp under Coretemp 0.95.4 should not exceed 70C.

Sounds like your friends have bought into the monster PSU hype. The 520HX should be plenty.

His friends sound like idiots. It's a shame how many people don't have a clue about how the PSU actually works and how much power something draws.
