I'm curious because you picked up 2 sets, but isn't it one rebate per household?

So anybody follow this train of thought? These modules are rated at 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v, while the model below (drop the c5 from the model name), is only tested @ 1.9v. So I figure Corsair is probably like Intel or AMD in that they will batch test, say they meet their quota for this c5 1.8v memory, they just badge the other stuff as 1.9 stuff and send it out, when it might very well have passed their "1.8v test" if they needed more. Kind of like how Intel and AMD do with procs.

Reason I ask is because I have the "lower" model memory without the c5 suffix, but it's running 1.8v 100% stable on my system with no memtest errors, however upon an inquiry to corsair's ram guy he told me I should change out the memory to something that is "1.8v tested". Any thoughts/opinions on this? I don't want to upgrade if I don't have to, but these sticks look the exact same as mine...

Why fix it if it isn't broken?

perhaps the c5 suffix could have something to do with the particular type or brand of chip used on the DIMM?

(assuming you weren't kidding :))

The c5 seems to indicate a part rated at CAS latency of 5 (5-5-5-x) at standard JEDEC voltage (1.8v for DDR2). There is also a c4 suffix that would (one presumes) mark a CAS 4 rated part. From the earlier comment, I assume that the suffix-less parts aren't guaranteed to meet spec at standard voltage (even though most probably will), but will at overvoltage.

I have used Corsair ram in the past and alos spoken with their support staff. The 'C5' and 'C4' are usually part of the model designations they use to indicate differnt revisions of the ram kit. If you run a search for theier House of help ram forum and find their IC Inquiry threads you will see more info on this. Hope this helps.

Considering that Corsair's 1066 memory requires 2.2V (I have 4x1GB of those), these should be able to hit at least 900 at 2.2 :)

I have this Ram, the c5 version version 2gb sticks. It works great at specs at 1.8V. It will not overclock at all, regardless of voltage. Corsair has made this Ram with different memory modules. Some do overclock, but others like mine do not.

I think I'm going to get 8GB of this today (each paid with a different credit card with different billing addresses). My local MicroCenter near Cincinnati said they still have 30 in stock.

~$130 (includes tax) for 8GB is not bad. Just a bit more than $30 per 2GB.

Compared to Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...me=DDR2+800+(PC2+6400)

The Microcenter in Dallas is sold out of pretty much everything on the high end, including this RAM.

They had no 3870s, no 8800gt, a couple overpriced 8800gts, and nothing but a bunch of Corsair 2x1GB kits.

Don't know. Will give you some data by next weekend :p

POSSIBLY DEAD

I ordered last night and got an email this morning that it's on backorder. It's still listed as available on the site though, so I guess you can order at this price and wait for it to be back in stock.

Nice!

It's actually 1.9V.

still better than the many kits that are 2.1v or even 2.2v ... it should mean these should either be overclockable or at least able to have tighter timings with a bump in volts to 2.2
