Corsair 2700 -- doesn't run right at spec, but...

First, my system:

Athlon 2600+ (2.08/166) @ 2.08/190 (default voltage)
Chaintech 7NJS
Original GeForce3
2 x 512 Corsair XMS 2700
hard drives, cd, etc...
Koolance case (watercooling)

My question is based on this: The ram will NOT do 166 @ CAS 2 as it claims, regardless of 2.6/2.7 voltage. However, it runs stably under Prime95, 3dmark2k1, and Sandra at 190/6-3-3-2.5
I realize the timings aren't the best, but a) I don't have any other DDR lying around, and b) I don't know that it would do any better if it were replaced.

Should I RMA it and hope the replacements are better?

If it doesn't do its rated speed, have it RMA'd through Corsair (go to House of Help forums). If you're satisfied with those timings (which are very nice @ 190MHz), then you'll have to decide if its worth it. Is it LL or C2 btw?

It's regular C2, I bought it before I knew the LL existed. It'll run at 166, but only with a 2.5 latency, it crashes everything but windows @166/C2. Something tells me it's not worth testing the C2 above 166 if it won't run C2 AT 166. I guess I should go buy some cheap DDR locally to keep me running while I RMA these. Too bad they don't work right...I hope the replacement sticks keep the good timings.

Btw, where are the House of Help forums?

I looked for the house of help URL, but couldn't turn anything up in the forum search here. I know it's around, but I can't find it. Help would be much appreciated.

Yep, figured you probably had C2. There's a known issue with some C2 revisions at SPD settings or in dual-channel on nForce2. Post your problem there and you might be able to get them replaced with LL. I've seen RamGuy freely offer RMA's to people after like 2 posts.
