A strange thing just happened. After installing and playing Age of empires for an extended period of time, my Windows sounds got corupted. They had a lot of interference.
First, I tried reinstalling the drivers for the sound card. Didn't work.
Then, I tried switching speakers. The low sound quality remained.
Then, I reinstalled both the sound schemes and the sample sounds. That fixed the problem, but something still bugs me. What could have caused it??
I'm running W95 and the setup program for Age of Empires installed DirectX 6.0. My sound card doesn't support DirectX.
How could any of this affect the sound files??
