Corrupted SETI wu's?

This is taken from a friend's ICQ message:

"lately every time seti is finished with a unit, a window comes up that says the file is corrupted, and i click "ok" and seti closes. the unit is lost."

Any ideas on what's going on here? I saw Assimilator's post about dropped data units, and I was wondering if the same thing is happening here. Has anyone else seen this before? Is there a solution? Is it because she is still running GUI 2.04? Thanks for the help.

That could have something to do with it (using the old client), but I would lean more towards data corruption from overclocking....

she's not overclocking. it's a p2 400 that has been running seti for over a year now. fresh install maybe?

Yead, I'd just uninstall it, do a scandisk and maybe a defrag, and then reinstall it.

Have you got a spare stick of RAM you could throw in there just to check that? I've seen bad RAM give me about 20WU's all less than 10 mins each!
It could be the SETI server playing up perhaps? ,can she install SETIQ to see what that says & more importantly save the WU results & times.

That reminds me ,I'm gonna see if those WU's will flush now;)

The SETI server seems to be struggling again :( ,here's the SETIQ log from my 2nd in command.

ARRRRGHHHH ,more dropped WU's! ,my Q also had problems about 1/2hr earlier to that.
BTW I've managed to flush the dropped WU's I had in my Q:)

i doubt that ram is the issue. it's a gateway and the ram doesn't usually "go bad" after a year or so, does it? i recommended the uninstall, scandisk, defrag, reinstall route.

it's not the ram. at least not on my 2 systems. i have mosel vitalic rev1.5 in both, and i have gotten "duplicate results" on both computers. i have lost about 5 workunits the past 3 days on both systems. i'm assuming that the seti@home database must've gotten damaged during the recent outages.

Shortly after last posting I had some more dropped WU's ,looks like the SETI themselves are having probs.

Don't forget with SETIQ you don't lose the WU's :)
