Corrupted JPG files on NAS

I don't know what is going on here. I was browsing some JPGs on my NAS, and one of them opened corrupted.

I went to a different directory, that also had a copy of those files, and different files were corrupted.

I did have some issues with my new main machine a few weeks ago, but I thought I fixed them by increasing my vcore. (Yes, computer is OCed.)

Been running BOINC, WCG, PrimeGrid, etc., 24/7 since rig was built and overclocked.

Is something breaking down? I have yet to run a full 24hr Memtest86+, which is probably my next course of action.

Still, quite puzzling.

Edit: My NAS has stopped responding a few times in the last two weeks when I went to access it too. I had to go into its IP address and access the admin menus, to reboot it. Last time I did that, the main web page didn't come back up, and I had to reboot it using the physical power button.

Edit: I think it's the NAS. I tried accessing the files from another PC, one that has been rock-solid, after rebooting the NAS, and they appear corrupted on that PC too.

Edit: Well, I think the NAS is hosed. I tried to reboot it (it uses a soft-off button that you have to hold down), but after holding it for quite some time, it never entered the shutdown-sequence (power button starts to blink). I couldn't access the management page either.

It's dead, jim. What a PITA. Thankfully, I had backed-up nearly everything on there, except for all of the images that I linked to on this forum, that were hosted on that NAS. Oh well.

Hopefully, I can slave the drive (IDE), on a Linux box and copy everything off. I think it uses ReiserFS, not sure which version.

"Gigabit NAS". Yes, that's the name. No brand.

Seems like it is also called an NS-349, at least that looks identical to mine.

It has support for one IDE drive, and two USB2.0 ports.

Edit: I would post some pics, but alas, it seems my NAS is down. 😛

Edit: It's not too bad of a loss, it was a $25 hot-deal special from geeks.com. I originally purchased four of them, bricked one trying to upgrade the firmware using firmware I found on the internet, and sold two of them, and I only kept one of them. If I had one of the others, I might try just transplanting the HD between them.

I'll probably just pick up one of those HP N40L microserver boxes and call it a day. I have four 1TB Seagate 7200 RPM HDs to throw in. Have to pick up WHS 2011 too, or maybe using one of the free Linux-based NAS OSes.

Just thought I might help but that's not the unit I have- thanks anyway and good luck. Have you isolated it to the NAS or the network?

I don't think it's the network, because I couldn't even power-down the NAS, because it had crashed internally. That seems to point directly to the NAS becoming faulty.
