Corrupted graphics with my new Geforce 2 GTS 32 mb

I just got a new Hercules Prophet II Geforce GTS 32 mb, to replace my Voodoo 3 3000 PCI. I installed the new card correctly (choosing standard PCI adapter blabla). I got it all working correctly in WinME, but when I start any 3D-accelerated game, for example Unreal Tournament, No One Lives Forever or Quake 3, I get all corrupted graphics/textures. For example, I choose OpenGL in UT, and then start, but all my screen graphics are just colored rainbow-style triangels and shapes.
No One Lives Forever is a bit better, its Direct3D-only, and I can see Cate Archer in the main menu, but the text and stuff are all gone and its rainbow-colored stuff floating around on the screen.

This is my settings and system configs:
AMD k6-3 450 mhz on a FIC VA 503+ motherboard
192 mb PC133 ram
30 gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 7200rpm
etc etc..

I got the latest drivers for the Geforce, the 12.40 drivers downloaded from a trustful source (the original Hercules site).

I got AGP 2x enabled in my bios, and I dont know the apperture size for AGP (ill see when I go back home later tonight)

What can I do about this? Its pissing me off, no 3D-accelerated games work with correct graphics. I can run Worms Armageddon, which is Software-rendered only, with no problems.

Please help me!

I've tried removing/reinstalling the card+drivers already, it doesnt help. I've totally removed the Voodoo 3 3000 drivers so I dont think it's got something to do with that...
I have not overclocked this card, its the default speeds.
Thanks alot for the help!!!

And how did you totally remove the V3 drivers?????
Been there, done that. didn't work.
You can uninstall, delete files, and edit the registry 'till you are blue.
Only way to remove completely is to format drive and reinstall all from scratch.
This must be done especially for UT. Even if you uninstall UT, then reinstall it,
it still wants to use your 3dfx card. Once you format and reinstall windows, it
won't see any more hidden info about the 3dfx card.

With that system, the best results are obtained using the 7.58 drivers.
Don't forget to install the VIA 4in1 patch, and the AGP patch, and make sure you have the correct 503+ Bios for Win ME.

After doing all of the above, my 503+ and 503A systems now work fine.

RobsTV- Did you try to follow this guide:

http://www.guru3d.com/tech/voodoo-to-nvidia/index1.shtml

It basically tells you what to delete in the registry and files to get rid of, this stuff didn't work for you? The reason I ask, I have a V2 🙂 and my new GTS should be arriving soon, and I'm preparing myself for the upgrade. Should I try reg editing first before a Win reinstall?

The V2 does not "infect" the entire system like the V3 does, probably due to the fact that it is not your primary card, and must get along well with another card. The V3 on the other hand, wants to take over your system. In my case, problems still occured after following all the info in the Voodoo to GF guide, and only formatting solved it. Probably depends on what 3dfx drivers you used??? In any event, it didn't work. Transfered V3 to another system, then later upgraded it too with a GF, and same crap, had to format to get UT and other stuff working properly again.

Actually, the video card is probably the most complicated piece of hardware and software that must work 100% correctly with everything in your system. As such, you should always format and reinstall all, whenever you make such a drastic system change anyways. Besides, it's usually a good idea to format every once in a while just to clean out your system. Many unused and possibly conflicting files remain after you upgrade or uninstall programs. Spend a day on this, and you will save some grief fighting to get stuff working later.

I hear you there on the reformatting every so often, but I just did it about 3 months ago! 😉 So I really didn't want to do it again so soon. I will prob try the guide and if things don't seem right.... format c:\ 😀
