Hi guys,
I've crashed 4 times in the last 24 hours. All while playing WarCraft3. I suspect it's hardware (video card) related, but wanted to get additional opinions.
specs:
XP1500+
256megs
GeForce2GTS
ECS K7S5A mobo
WinXP
latest (4.1.09) video driver
crash symtoms/aftermath:
blackscreen (during play, and sound stops)
monitor powers down (computer still running, no signal?)
requires reboot (warm)
doesn't POST
POST and black screen (instead of XP boot screen)
POST then freeze
no POST (blinking cursor on left middle screen)
monitor doesn't power up (on any initial reboot)
BSOD once after reboot
When I check, the video card fan seem to be on. Although I only crashed 4 times, I've had to boot more than 8 (at least twice to succesfully get to the desktop. I end up cold rebooting as a last attempt. Only happens with Warcraft3 (so far). I tried uninstall and reinstall and crashed (same way) about 80% into the install.
Any thoughts?
Update: IT just crashed again (after being on for 5+ hours). It happened after I watch a couple of video advertisements on the fanta website. I assume anything that taxes the vid card at all is going to kill me. Any suggestions? It's OEM from compgeeks about 5 months ago, so I assume I'm SOL?
