Corrupt Outlook PST File

Hi Guys,

I reformatted my brother's computer the other day and forgot to backup his Outlook information. I ended up using some File Recovery software that actually recovered the 1.5 gig PST file, however, when i try to import it into Outlook its corrupt (go figure). I found a piece of software called OfficeRecovery that recovered all the data, but wouldn't let me save the file. I was wondering if anyone knew any good "free" progs I could get to recover the file. (I have tried ScanPST and it didn't work)

Thank You,
-Nick

Did you try running the INBOX REPAIR TOOL on it?

Copy it to the USER's Outlook folder.

Then go to \Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT
and run the file "Scanpst.exe"

NOTE: the above is for Win2K and XP. Other OS's have varied locations.

I've tried that tool. All it did was delete everything from the Personal Folder. Piece of crap tool if u ask me.

If you can get your hands on Easy Recovery Pro, it has repair function for office files that worked for me on a corrupted PST file.

woohoo.. I fixed it. What I ended up doing was adding the PST file to outlook, have it look at it and scan it, then ran ScanPST on the file. For some reason ScanPST found all the files (where as the first time I ran it, it found nothing) and I got all my stuff back.

Thanks for the help guys.
