Corrupt downloads

I just built my machine this week and have been doing alot of downloading. The first I saw was doing windows update. there were 2 updates that didn't take and I had to download again. Later I downloaded an antivirus/firewall program that RR is offering free to its subscribers. The firewall didn't install I ran the install again and was successful the second time only to be later uninstalled because it was flaking out windows. Yes something other than windows itself. 😉 I didn't really think much of all that til just a little while ago. I tried to download the update to spybot and after downloading it said there was a check sum error.

So now I am wondering if have a problem that needs some attention.

What do you think?
 
Checksum errors from safer-networking.org are not unusual
(the site consumes a lot of bandwidth so Server timeouts are the norm).

You may want to take a look at your Network drivers, or if using
Win2k or XP, check the EVENT LOG for clues.

Maybe I am just being a bit paranoid. My rig has been down for a month or so due to HD fail. So we just used the kids computer until I done an upgrade of mine. So while using the backup machine the drive fails in it. I stick an old drive in it to use until an ugrade can be acquired. Shortly there after I got a disk full of virus and trojans that I couldn't shake. It even wrote something to the bios! Anyhow a reinstall took care of that.

Back to my rig. I got that error on spybot then I got to thinking about the couple of updates from MS that had to be redownloaded I started to get a little gunshy. Along with that antivirus/firewall program that brought my system to a screeching halt. Someone commented in another thread that computer associates stuff sucks and that my have been the problem rather than a bad download.

My event logs show no errors related to networking. So I am guessing I don't really have a problem here.
