Just put together a new system and it is only showing up as 256.

Asus A7V333 motherboard.

tried different slots same in each. I guess I need to take the ram back.

Anything I am missing or could check?

Thanks

Yup.

Take the multiplied number and divide it by 8 (in all cases with 64Bit DIMMS) and you have the MB value of it.
(64x64)/8=512

In your case, it's probably just a bad memory mod(if it IS labeled 64x64).

Thanks
