Of course, the engine and six-speed-transmission module also shares the usual Toyota 2ZZ testing conundrum, where it drops off the high-lift cam at every upshift, forcing the engine to rev back up to the 6000-rpm (or thereabouts) switch point before starting the frenetic burst of energy that will carry it to its 8200-rpm redline and the next gear. (Honda gear ratios keep the hot cam on the job throughout redline acceleration runs.)

So you only go to the upper reaches when you mean business, and when you do, the sheer insanity of it is huge fun.

I'm happy with my Corolla...it's at a (fairly) rice-free 15.9 1/4, so it's a little fun to drive.. =)

Slow ??? They still tested 0-60 @ 7.1.....thats faster than the tC @ 7.4.
C&D have been known to have the lowest times.

Really? Oh. I was just going off what people were saying in the thread I originally saw the video in. 😛 Seemed reasonable.Originally posted by: Vic
Eli, he's not double-clutching his upshifts, he's just got balls of steel in that gorgeous Ferrari and is keeping his right foot firmly planted to the floor. That high-pitched note in-between shifts is where the engine bounces off the rev limiter.
And yeah, I can't believe that Toyota would build an engine with a top powerband so narrow that not even a 6 speed can keep you in it.
Hence my "balls of steel" comment. Takes either a complete lack of brains and/or a big freakin' pair to hamfist a transmission that expensive.Originally posted by: Eli

How's he do that without making his transmission make all kinds of horrible noises? 😕 Just slam it home and let the synchros take care of the rest?
