on induction stove, the pan is hot... the pan is sitting on glass. glass gets hot... may not be as hot as the pan, but it is still hot.
 
Has anyone used an induction cooker that they liked? They're common here but I haven't found one that works very well (albeit my landlord isn't going to furnish me with a very nice one). They have poor range of settings, run too hot at the lowest temperatures, and have a terrible behavior of cycling on and off.
