"When a South Florida SWAT team yesterday captured Anthony 'Bubba' Oyibo, the Jacksonville man suspected in the slaying of his 5-month-old son, he had shot himself in the mouth with a flare gun... 'The smoke was still coming out of his mouth when he was secured,' said spokesman Joe Flescher of the Indian River Sheriff's Office."

Medium rare, please.

Wow, a flare gun isn't exactly the best way to go. I would venture a guess that he may have died due to smoke inhalation from the flare in his mouth. But I don't know how powerful the initial impact was. Maybe enough to make it to the brain?

I'd think that he would have a lot of burn damage to his mouth, possibly enough to kill, albeit in a painful way.
Those flares are hella hot.

Why didn't he shoot the swat team?

Yeah, wtf. If you've got a SWAT team breaching your house and you don't want to live through it, point the flare gun at them.

You'll be dead before you hit the floor.

Ummm, I don't think he's dead -
Oyibo, charged in Jacksonville with murder in Jason Oyibo's death, was in fair condition last night in a Vero Beach hospital.
