Corned beef and cabbage

Any good cooks in OT this morning ?

Yesterday I decided to cook corned beef in my crockpot, she's been slowly stewing for over 16 hours now and should be ready for dinner tonight

Added during cooking ;

Spices

Parsley
Oregano
Garlic salt
Paprika
Old Bay

Veggies

Potatoes
celery
onions
tomatoes

Later on I will rapidly boil the cabbage so as not to lose it's flavor, what type of spices/veggies do you guys/gals add when cooking corned beef ?

Hmm, wow I haven't had that in years. I don't think my mom ever added anything extra to it. I think it was just salt, cabbage, and corned beef.

 

NEVER cook the cabbage with the corned beef !
It becomes soft and soggy and loses most of it's flavor, you must boil it rapidly 30 minutes before dinner

Holy cow, I've done big roasts in 8 hours and they are falling apart then.

 

Corned beef does not fall apart like other meats when cooked for extensive periods of time

Same here, no extra spices, just let it simmer in the crock pot all day. mmmmmm
