Core2, which client to run, running correctly already?

Have a E6600, running XP. Currently run the 6.00 Beta console all the time on one core, run an additional 6.00 GUI on the other core when I'm not using the pc, just pause the work while I use it.

My question: correct setup for maximum output on a E6600? or would the SMP client produce more on this setup.

not related FYI, I currently run the same setup on a Dell E310, has a P4 521 w/ HT, pretty sure it's all I can do on this setup.

Thanks for looking

My first reaction would be that the SMP would probably produce more for you, but I don't think it would be a big difference. What kind of Points Per Day (PPD) are you presently getting?

by the way, you might want to consider using The FahMon progtram to help let you know what your production rate is. Especially if you want to compare.

Hopefully someone familiar with C2D installs will find this and give a better answer

edit: When I first read your post, I thought you were using one regular (CLI) client and one GPU client.

Now that I see you are running two regular clients (one CLI and one GUI) I'm sure a SMP install would make a lot more points.

Thanks for the response, and the link to FahMon...seems like a nice app. SMP client installed successfully and running right now, we'll see how it goes! It looks like I should be able to make the deadline though.

I run SMP on AMD X2s and don't have any trouble. I'm sure the C2D does them faster, so you ought to be fine.

I am guessing you'll find you don't need to turn them off when you do other things.... even gaming. F@H does a great job of getting out of the way as long as you aren't using a graphical client or the GPU client.
