core2 cpu's and changing FSB ?

my cpu Q9450 has an 8x mult
with speedstep I can only go down to 6x mult

This is rather disappointing.
I've been reading a little and searching google, but havn't found a way to lower the fsb (BCLK?) dynamically. All i've been able to find are outdated programs (2003-2005 era) for older chips like lfsb.

Is there a mechanism for doing this in linux with core2 systems ?
