Core Voltage For A P4 1.7

Does anyone know what the core voltage default is for a P4 1.7 (Willamete) is? Problem is that the bios shows "Default" for the core voltage so I dont know the baseline to change it.

Can someone explain when / why I should start looking into increasing the core voltage? Also, does increasing core voltage directly increase cpu temp?
