I have a barton with the following stepping/week etc

AQXEA 0324SPCW

Right now its at 2.3ghz with the voltage set to 1.7 however the actual reported voltage fluctuates all the way from 1.73 to 1.76

My temperatures are at 35C under full load, with an slk800 and vantec tornado

My question is this. Should I bump the voltage up to 1.85 (where it should peak at 1.9 but probably stay around 1.88 to 1.89) As long as I have okay temperatures? Or is 1.9volts a serious risk to the chip?

I think I am failing at lower voltages because of this variation from .3 to .6 higher than its set. I had it running at 2.35ghz fine at 1.8 (1.83-1.85 apparently). Im guessing that if I set it to 1.85 or 1.875 (1.88-1.92) that it should handle 2.4ghz stable.

Any opinions?

Edit: Also, do you think I need a new powersupply? Enermax 350W with solid rail voltages.

well ur temps or pretty damn good as long as u stay under 55c with load thats not a problem, high voltage will take life span off of a cpu by a couple years but with the average cpu lasting 7 years even if u cut its life in half 2 years is about the max u can go without an upgrade, also at high voltages u run the risk of sudden death(ive only heard of 2 instances of this on AMD processors) and that is when ur voltage exceeds what ur chips insulation can handle and if that happens ur cpu will die instantly, i run my 2000+ xp tbred a 2.06volts on a kt400 MB and its been like that for damn near a year with summer idle temps of around 43c and 53c with load. Id say youll be fine with anything under 2.1v as long as u run good cooling

I'm currently running my 2500+ @ 2.3ghz 1.975v sometimes the mobo will jump it to 2.02v however. ive had this 2500+ since the bartons were first released and shes been running at those settings since then :)
she can do 2.4ghz @ 2.125v or so

I personally wouldn't go above 1.8 (actual voltage) on any AMD chip and even lower on the DLT3C 1700s.

running my 2500+ at 1.85 for 2188mhz here, been that way for a few months without issues and it hits 60c at full load in my little mini tower.

I find it wierd that no matter how high I go with the vcore I can't get stable results above 2.25GHz.

Right now my 2500+ is running at 10x215=2150MHz with the stock vcore of 1.65V (although MBM5 shows the actual vcore at 1.68-1.70).

Raising the vcore will increase the diode idle and load temps quite a bit, about 2-3C for each 0.1v jump.

But at at 2.2GHz or higher even with the vcore at 1.85v it just isn't stable... Windows loading problems or Prime errors straight away. The temps are not the problem since I have the case off and an extra fan blowing in just to make sure. It locks up or gives errors at 5C or so under my normal stable temps with 2.1GHz.

I'm really dissapoijnted that I can't work out what's holding the CPU back. It can handle 220MHz fsb with no problems and I wish I could get the full potential out of this great chip ;)

raised my core to 1.825 (reports it as 1.87-1.89 though so im guessing thats what it is)

Im now at 2.375ghz stable (does 2.3ghz stable at 1.75)
