NO..... To load those programs shouldn't take 100 cpu and for long enough to raise temps like that....

They jump up and back pretty fast??? If so it couldn't be bad contact as the temps could rise that fast but would be slow to settle down....

What mobo??? Do you have latest bios??? Are you using mobo manufacturers temp program??? If so try mbm5.1.9.1.....

As an average user, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the temperature readings, as long as they are wihtin a reasonable range. In your case it looks nornal, ie., higher when start executing something. Run sisoftSandra "burn-in", see what will happen. If it remains operatable, fine! Sisoft does test overall performances of everything. Prime95 continuously strains the CPU, ram, chipset. I don't believe that M/B manufacterers use higher grade temperature senser chip, so we should't expect such high precision, just relative figures. Mine temperature readings range between low 30 to low 50 deg. C for system temp. and mid 40 to low 60 for CPU(never goes beyond 64 C during Prime95 with ambient temp. at 29). These are quite high compared to what people report in this forum, but since I have it run without a hick, fine!

I probably have the same board, and my cpu temps range from 50-60 celcius even with the latest bios upgrade. I wouldn't worry about it if your system is stable. You don't have to flash the bios is you're not comfortable with it. Before trying it, I would check the return policy from your vender, in case you have a bad flash, and can't get it to boot up.
