In a comment of on eof there articles, Anandtech said they were going to have an overclocking guide for the core i7. I was hoping they would have published it by now. My parts will arrive on monday and I'm a n00b when it comes to overclocking. I have a 920 on water. Does anybody have any suggestions or know of a guide I can follow?

Thanks

Overclocking the i7 is pretty much a joke. With my setup, using an Asus P6T and a 920, I made the following changes:

Set overclocking mode to manual
vCore to 1.35v
Bus Speed to 190
RAM voltage to 1.65

That's it.

Well Graysky's C2 guide could have said this then:

FSB: 400

Vcore: 1.3v

But sometimes its better to know what you are doing and why you are doing it, instead of just how :p

Heh, with an Intel Smackover board and MSI Eclipse using a 965, can't seem to get anywhere by raising bus speed. However, "turbo" mode works.

Turbo mode changes the multiplier, not the bus.

anandtech and other sites said they were easily ble to get the 920 to 3.8Ghz and thought they could puch it to over 4 and that was on air. So what do I do to do that? What do you think are safe limits to push the vCore and the Bus Speed? can someone explain what those setting do?

What about the BCLK? Is it safe to push that all the way up to 200? If I did, would there need to be anything else I would have to do?

Also, should turbo mode be turned off? What about that Overspeed Protection? That definitely needs to be turned off right? Is there any danger in turning it off?

Thanks

why raise the bus speed if you have a 965? it defaults to 6.4gt/s which is borderline imo. im just gonna crank the core multiplier on mine. good thing i know exactly how fast it is. easy money.
