Core i7 Extream @ 1.720 V

Have you all noticed the 1.720 V on this :- http://it.oc.com.tw/images/081...081534414988775912.jpg and also on the 4.2 Ghz cpu Z pic of Cre i7 Extrema...

The above link states the Core i7 @3.2Ghz which is suppose to be normal. SO 1.720 is normal for a core i7 extrema huh. Here some ppl were saying that Deneb @ 1.6V would blow up??

Actually i am quite confused "Pls see the cpuz shot of Core i7 Extrema posted by PConline.com.cn which is at a lower 2.9 Ghz speed but the core voltage is at 0.859????

The voltage is indeed scary for 45nm, but some people @ XS seem to think its a CPU-Z error, the OP had this followup:

I guess in the shock of the voltages most people have neglected one important point - the QPI bus is at 200MHz! That is good news for i920 overclockers, since many were worried the QPI bus could not be pushed very high and would limit overclocking, with a 200MHz QPI an i920 could potentially reach 4GHz.

the voltage listed IS NOT what it actually is. it has been known for weeks now that the new hardware calculates the voltage differently. the voltage you see there could be anything really.

Yup even in AMD section @ XS ppls said cpu-z was not reading Denebs voltages properly , bcz , Iam not sure that even the MSI board ( AM2+ or AM2) has an option of 1.6 v for cpu in bios. :roll:

1.47 is suppose to be core i7 friendly that means it should show the important info correctly at least...

The other thing is Intel's new clock up- clock down tech. according to the environment.. I mean really want a curve ball that is. As for the Voltagethe last processer that i recall which i owned and had a 1.8V was either K6 or K5!!

I'm sorry, but comparing two unreleased processors - let along two unreleased processors from DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS - is not just comparing apples to oranges, it's comparing apples to oranges from crops that haven't even been harvested yet. Until we see empirical evidence in the form of real product and people putting them through their paces in general release form, everything else is misinformed speculation. What does one have to do with the other???

I didn't see what MSI board they are using, but I am almost certain that my MSI board goes up to 1.6+ volts, for what it's worth. All that potential ruined by the SB600.
