Core i7 humbug. I went to Fry's today and came away with an ecs g33 motherboard and e4500 retail boxed cpu for $49.99. Similar deals are available through tomorrow for some faster cpus. Prices range from $49.99 to 199.99.

Its good to see them, I wont be buying any till next year Q2 maybe at earliest. Im waiting for the sub 200 prices motherboard combos to bust out. Plus I want to see how the new motherboards look for this socket.

my computer is all watercooled so im getting the new 1366 water block from danger den...oh ya i ordered mine today as well and it shipped from tank guys!! although i have no mobo yet...i want the evga when it comes out

That doesn't make any sense. Core i7 uses as much or less power than Penryn at the same clock speed. It certainly uses less power than Phenom. It's not like they're releasing the next Prescott or Smithfield.

Pertaining to the subject matter at hand . . . nice for you early adopters out there. It's a shame that Deneb isn't mysteriously shipping early as well (sans Agena-like bugs).

I haven't seen many review for OCing on the stock heatsink; so I want to try that first. After a week or two, I want to grab a TR Ultra 120 extreme or the Noctua NH-U12P and see what that allows me to push the CPU to.

Realistically, I would like to get 3.2-3.4 on the stock heatsink and then 3.6-3.8 on the aftermarket one. If I can hit those, I will be definitely happy.

The reason I'm not buying from Newegg is because I know based on experience that they overprice launch day CPUs by more than $90 bucks on average ($350 on the QX9650 at launch ).
