I'm thinking about upgrading from my current CPU (in sig below) to keep me future proof a little longer for games and to have a bit more multi threaded performance. The problem is I have two choices, the i7-5775C and the i7-4790K.
According to a few benches the i7-5775C seems to be really good for games due to it's 128MiB L4 eDRAM cache, so good in fact that according to The Tech Report it surpasses the i7-6700K or at least equals it in games at stock clocks. I will be overclocking the CPU and I realize the i7-5775C doesn't seem to OC well (~4.2GHz max) but I don't know if I'll be able to OC the i7-4790K that high either due to my board. If anybody has overclocked an i7-4790K on a 3+1 phase please let me know what you got.
The price premium for the i7-5775C is not a big deal for me especially considering it's resale value will probably be higher due to it's rarity.
